Acting Chairman PPP Muhamad Mardiono expressed his support for the Vice Chairman of the Gerindra Advisory Board Sandiaga Uno to become presidential or vice presidential candidates 2024 election. Mardiono even said that the chairman of the Gerindra Party, Prabowo Subianto, had allowed Sandiaga to help PPP.
Reported detikSulsel, Mardiono’s statement was made during the 50th PPP Harlah in Malino, Gowa Regency, South Sulawesi, Sunday (12/2/2023). He initially mentioned that Prabowo Subianto had given Sandiaga the green light to join PPP.
“Pak Sandi was given permission by Pak Prabowo to join the United Development Party to support the struggle of the United Development Party,” said Mardiono in front of the visitors present.
Mardiono said Sandiaga was a national asset that was able to bring Indonesian tourism to recover faster after being hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. He then asked the visitors for approval regarding whether Sandiaga was appropriate to be promoted as vice presidential candidate until the upcoming 2024 presidential candidate.
“We will give the highest award, do you think Pak Sandi deserves to be president or not,” said Mardiono, to which the visitors responded appropriately.
Sandiaga then responded what if Prabowo gave him his blessing to join PPP. “That is of course the leadership’s decision. As a cadre, I respect and obey the leadership’s directions. That we trust the leadership, whatever the leadership’s decision, as Pak Prabowo said during Harlah Gerindra, that the captain was given the mandate to lead and we believe it is best for the nation and the state,” he added .
