Manchester United will not have Marcus Rashford in the coming games. The 25-year-old attacker sustained a muscle injury in the Premier League game with Everton (2-0 win) on Saturday.
Rashford therefore misses, among other things, the first meeting with Sevilla on Thursday in the quarterfinals of the Europa League.
‘The Red Devils’ expect the attacker to be available again in the final phase of the season. That is good news for manager Erik ten Hag. With 28 official goals, the England international is Manchester United’s most productive player this season.
Ten Hag denounced the full competition calendar on Saturday following Rashford’s injury. “It is purely and solely due to the overcrowded schedule that we ended up in this situation,” said the former trainer of FC Utrecht and Ajax, among others.
“A risk is deliberately taken. Players cannot recover that quickly. All scientists and experts will say that players need more rest.”

Return Martial is a boost for Ten Hag
A stroke of luck for the Dutch trainer is the recent return of Anthony Martial, who was struggling with a hip injury. The Frenchman took care of the 2-0 against Everton on Saturday. Partly due to Martial’s physical problems, Wout Weghorst had a basic place with the English record champion for months.
Manchester United not only has a chance of Europa League success, but is also in the race for FA Cup victory. Brighton & Hove Albion will be the opponent in the semi-final on April 23. ‘The Red Devils’, who already won the League Cup at the end of February, are fourth in the Premier League.
