– We also get a lot of hate from Sweden, when people say they don’t understand why we are in the Swedish Melodifestivalen. They don’t want us to be involved, says Martinus.

– Unfortunately, we are not the only ones who get it, says Martinus and adds that they try not to think too much about the negative comments.

– We focus on what is positive instead, says Martinus.

Another person who has experienced hatred on social media is Ukrainian Maria Sur (18).

– I don’t really understand them, I would never write such things to or about anyone, says Sur.

– There are people who hate you, especially on TikTok. I love social media, but there are a lot of mean people there. I don’t really understand them, I would never write such things to or about anyone, she says.

For her part, it is mostly Swedes who have been negative about her participation in Melodifestivalen.
