With the song “Air”, the Norwegian twin duo Marcus & Martinus sang directly to the final of the Swedish Melodifestivalen.
The melody was written by Jimmy “Joker” Thörnfeldt, Joy Deb, Linnea Deb and Marcus and Martinus Gunnarsen.
The Norwegian duo took part on Saturday evening in sub-competition three out of four, which takes place in Lidköping.
Two entries went straight to the final and two entries get a second chance in a semi-final.
The super duo has been high on Melodifestivalen’s wish list since the successful hits “Hei”, “Elektrisk”, “Hjerteslag” and “Jenter”.
In 2018, they met SVT’s minimum requirement, 16 years, to compete in Melodifestivalen, but according to Aftonbladet, the duo has repeatedly declined the invitations from SVT.
In December 2022, it became official that Marcus and Martinus Gunnarsen (20) will take part in the Swedish Melodi Grand Prix.
