Marcus Grate Wins Men’s Sprint in Cross-Country Premiere, Edvin Anger Claims Victory in Ten Kilometer Classic

Friday’s men’s sprint in the cross-country premiere was eventful where Marcus Grate won after a fine sprint. But the one who stood out was the giant talent Alvar Myhlback, who finished third, just behind second Edvin Anger.

And Edvin Anger, who thus had to see himself defeated yesterday, got his revenge a day later. The 21-year-old was last out of everyone during the men’s ten kilometer classic. After a quiet opening, Anger switched up and won almost nine seconds ahead of Johan Häggström after a very fine finish.

– Great to take the victory today, especially at a distance. My first distance win in a senior race, so crazy fun to do this at the premiere of this year. Feels like a good start, says winner Anger.

The 21-year-old takes the opportunity to pay tribute to colleague William Poromaa, who could not get to the start today after a crash in the premiere.

– It is important to learn from the best and I got advice from Wille and did as he said. We have helped each other and trained together, says Anger.

SVT Sports’ expert duo pays tribute to today’s winners.

– He will be very interesting to follow this season, says commentator Jacob Hård.

SVT’s expert Anders Blomqvist:

– He is prepared to train a lot, which is really good.

Björn Sandström finished third and the great talent Alvar Myhlback grabbed eighth place, just over half a minute behind Anger.
