Jakarta –
Marcus Fernaldi Gideon decided to retire from badminton. He hung up his racket on his birthday.
Marcus turns 33 on March 9 2024. While giving thanks for his new age, he also announced his retirement from the world of badminton.
“Thank you God, for these 33 years!” said Marcus on his personal Instagram.
“Today, at the age of 33, I decided to quit my professional badminton career. It doesn’t feel like it’s been 25 years since I’ve been training & competing on the field. I thank the Lord Jesus who has worked in my life, without Him I may not be there like I am now,” he added.
Marcus achieved great success when paired with Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo. At the end of his career, Marcus often suffered injuries.
A total of 19 BWF Series championship titles were won by Marcus and Kevin. Both are known by the nickname Minions.
