Former badminton athlete Marcus Fernaldi Gideon said he had resigned from being a civil servant (PNS) at the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) after making a fuss about joining TKN Prabowo-Gibran.

Marcus admitted that he was no longer a civil servant. He said the decision was taken to avoid causing a public uproar.

“At that time I uploaded it Cineplex That TKN, right in-up there is indeed a warning. Rather than bother, I immediately withdrew aja like that,” said Marcus at GOR Gideon Badminton Hall, Bogor, Sunday (10/3).

Even so, Marcus doesn’t want to talk much about politics. He admitted that he had no plans to enter politics in the near future.

He chose to focus on the world of badminton. Marcus wants to develop young badminton players at the Gideon Badminton Academy.

“The focus is on wanting to help here too. Indeed, I also enjoy seeing the children practicing,” he said.

Previously, Marcus Gideon sparked public debate after being involved in political activities with TKN Prabowo-Gibran in the 2024 presidential election. He uploaded a video of TKN Commander Fanta Arief Rosyid with Marcus.

The public is busy discussing this because Gideon has civil servant status. He is registered as an employee of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

“The hope is that Indonesian badminton will become more advanced, regional talent will be more evenly distributed, general leaders will love and focus more on managing badminton,” said Marcus in the video.
