After the news about Marco Verde’s feat spread throughout the country and on social media, the president of Mazda Mexico, Miguel Barbeyto, responded to an image on X detailing that the family of the now silver medalist supposedly had to sell their car in order to travel to Paris.
“These are the kind of people that Mexico needs and that make me proud to be Mexican. Marco Verde, Mazda will replace that car that helped you get to where you are. Please write me a DM,” the executive posted on his account.
The post quickly went viral, generating positive comments for the help offered to the Mexican athlete, who contributed, so far, the third silver medal for the Mexican delegation in Paris 2024.
Marco Verde’s presence on the Olympic podium generated congratulations from the president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, as well as from sports celebrities such as Saúl ‘Canelo’ Álvarez.
