Marco Rose, coach of the German club Leipzig, confirmed that he will be sure that the young English playmaker, Jude Bellingham, is not ready to participate with his Spanish team, Real Madrid, during the two teams’ confrontation tomorrow, Tuesday, in the first leg of the round of 16 of the Champions League, only if his name does not appear on the royal club’s list.
Bellingham suffered a sprain in his right ankle during Real Madrid’s 4-0 victory over Girona in the Spanish League on Saturday.
Real Madrid explained that Bellingham’s recovery process is being closely monitored, amid expectations that he will miss the match against Leipzig tomorrow.
But Rose, who previously coached Bellingham at Borussia Dortmund, is not convinced.
Rose said in press statements on Monday, “I will not believe that he will not participate unless he does not come to the field tomorrow. I know Jude. He will do everything in his power to participate in a Champions League match.”
The two teams met before in the group stage of last season’s edition of the Champions League, where Real won 2-0 at home, then Leipzig won 3-2 in the second leg after the Royal Club had already secured qualification for the knockout rounds.
Rose pointed out, “We know their capabilities, but we are not that bad, and we have great players on our team. We will do everything we can and look for our opportunities to put ourselves in a good position.”
There are doubts about Amadou Haidara’s participation with Leipzig, but Dati Olmo will be ready to participate after missing the previous two matches with Real Madrid, and the same is true for Xavi Simons, who, like Olmo, graduated from Barcelona’s youth academy, Real Madrid’s traditional rival.
