Everyone has known Marco Odermatt since these Olympic Games at the latest. However, the 24-year-old does not seem to be very comfortable with the hype surrounding his person. Because: Apart from his remarkable career, he lives a completely normal life. Like many of his peers, he lives with a colleague in a shared flat in Beckenried. But since he won the gold medal, a lot has changed.
“Increasingly, I can no longer do the normal things,” he says in an interview with CH Media. “It’s no longer so easy for me to go to a bar in Lucerne, to the swimming pool or to the public sauna.” He is recognized everywhere and people even come up with the idea of making a little film and posting it somewhere on the internet. “I no longer feel free to really do what I would like to do at that moment.”
However, there is no end in sight to the celebrity status. Marco Odermatt starts in the World Cup in the giant slalom, super-G and downhill disciplines and has won ten races so far. (zentralplus reported)
