Marco Odermatt is also the best in the first run of the first of two giant slaloms in Alta Badia. The world champion leads the intermediate rankings ahead of Croatian Filip Zubcic.

Odermatt doesn’t seem to have any problems switching to the shorter skis after his participation in the speed races on the three previous days in Val Gardena. He was 31 hundredths faster than Zubcic, who focuses on the technical disciplines. Apart from the Croatian, only Marco Schwarz was able to keep up with the man from Nidwalden. The Austrian lost 36 hundredths.
The Slovenian Zan Kranjec in fourth place already has a share of almost nine tenths with him into the second run, while everyone else is already over a second and a half behind in a ranking with considerable gaps.
The next best Swiss are Gino Caviezel and Loïc Meillard in eleventh and 16th place. However, they are already 2.15 and 2.45 seconds behind. Thomas Tumler was over three seconds slower, which was enough for 21st place. Fadri Janutin is also involved in the decision. The Grisons driver, who started with number 55, is in 27th place.
Justin Murisier and Sandro Zurbrügg missed qualifying for the second round. The remaining Swiss-Ski drivers were eliminated.
