Major Marco Kroon was “deeply moved and offended to be called a pencil peddler”. He said this today in the military chamber of the court of appeal in Arnhem. There he is appealing against a community service order and a conditional fine that Kroon received after he was caught urinating in the wild during the carnival in Den Bosch in March last year.
The wearer of the Military William Order is on trial for urinating in public, headbutted an officer and violation of honor by showing his naked genitals. Kroon started the session at the court by reading a personal statement. He had put it on paper “because I am emotionally well on my tax”.
“I think I have been wrongly convicted of assault and violation,” said Kroon. He also said that he was sorry that it turned out like this. “I deeply regret the incident and the aftermath.”
Frog suit
Kroon denies that he headbutted an officer during his arrest. “I would never consciously touch an officer. I see him as a colleague. My sympathy and respect for the police is great,” he told the chairman of the military chamber. “I can’t imagine you explaining the movement as headbutt.”
Crown, 50, also said the police could never have seen his genitals. To bolster his plea, he donned his carnival frog suit over his military uniform in court, writes Broadcasting Brabant. The parts of the jacket obstruct the view of his genitals, he said.
For the headbutt and showing his genitals to a police officer, Kroon was sentenced to 100 hours of community service at the end of last year. Last spring, Kroon received a conditional fine of 140 euros for urinating in public. The Public Prosecution Service has demanded a community service of 100 hours and a fine of 120 euros on appeal.
