The Carinthian ice hockey hope Marco Kasper played a major role in the Grand Rapids Griffins’ 3-0 season-opening win at home against the Milwaukee Admirals in the American Hockey League (AHL) on Friday.
The 20-year-old striker scored his team’s first goal of the new season (29th), and was credited with an assist in the 2-0 win around seven minutes later.
Kasper was sent to their farm team by the NHL team Detroit Red Wings at the beginning of the week.
Kutscherow scores hat trick for Tampa Bay
In the NHL, Nikita Kutscherow single-handedly decided the Tampa Bay Lightning’s game against the Carolina Hurricanes in the final phase for the guests.
The Russian scored a hat trick in the last nine minutes of the game from 1-1 onwards, the last two goals being empty net goals. Kutscherow also prepared Tampa’s first goal.
The Winnipeg Jets, in turn, celebrated a 2-1 overtime victory over the Chicago Blackhawks away from home. The Vegas Golden Knights won 4-3 at home against the St. Louis Blues, the Philadelphia Flyers won 3-2 at the Vancouver Canucks after a penalty shootout.
