Marco Borsato concerts without Marco Borsato
Hillenaar Events, led by Mike Leegwater, brings together top musicians and vocalists during the shows to perform Marco Borsato’s greatest hits. Leegwater has had a legal investigation carried out to determine whether his company is allowed to perform such shows, in connection with music rights, and he has been given the green light.
The four-day show is called ROOD and will take place after Christmas at the Jaarbeurs in Utrecht. “With this show, entitled RED, we want to give the songs the large audience they deserve again,” says the commercial director of Hillenaar Events to the AD. “The show is really about the music and, as far as we are concerned, that is separate from the original interpreter. Everyone knows this music, the repertoire has given so many Dutch people comfort, support or even pleasure. They are still played on special occasions; births, weddings, funerals. They are sung along to in the pub and played at home when heartbroken. There is still a great need for Borsato’s music.”
