Major League Soccer is mourning the death of the midfielder FC Cincinnati, Angle Framewho died Monday night after battling injuries sustained in an accident last month.
FC Cincinnati issued the following statement:
“At FC Cincinnati we are devastated to report that Marco Angulo passed away Monday night after battling injuries sustained in an accident last month.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Marco: husband and father, brother and son, friend and teammate. He was a cheerful and kind young man who lit up every place he went. Our entire club mourns this tragedy, and we are thinking and praying by his family. He was a beloved member of the FC Cincinnati family, and will be missed.”
MLS Commissioner Don Garber issued the following statement:
“Major League Soccer deeply regrets the tragic departure of Marco Angulo.
“Marco was a talented young midfielder for FC Cincinnati last season, helping the club win the Supporters’ Shield before continuing his development on loan with LDU Quito in his native Ecuador.
“At this very difficult time, we extend our condolences to Marco’s wife and son, as well as his entire family, friends, teammates and the football community.
“He will be deeply missed.”
Angulo, an Ecuadorian international, joined Cincinnati in December 2022, from Independiente del Valle in his native country. He then played 24 games during the 2023 campaign in which the club won the Supporters’ Shield. Angulo spent the 2024 season on loan with Ecuadorian first division team LDU Quito.
