“Let’s march for a world without nuclear weapons”: this is the message carried by Ican France, the Movement for a non-violent alternative, the Peace Movement and the Armaments Observatory which are organizing several demonstrations in France, and in particular in departure from Lyon this Saturday September 23.
“We cannot accept that there are still more deaths like Nahel”
A second demonstration “against police violence, against systemic racism and for public freedoms” is also on the program, at 2:30 p.m. from the Esplanade de l’Europe in Villeurbanne. The procession will head towards Charpennes, take Avenue Thiers, Cours Lafayette, then Garibaldi to arrive at Place Gabriel-Péri, in Lyon. Around a hundred trade union organizations, associations, collectives, committees of working-class neighborhoods, victims of police violence and political parties are mobilizing throughout France this Saturday “to put an end to security and anti-social policies.” »
“We cannot accept that there are still other deaths like Nahel, or other injured victims of police violence,” they wrote in a press release. They are demanding several measures, including “in-depth reform of the police”.
Also note, at 9 p.m., this Saturday, at Place Louis-Pradel, supporters of Senegalese opponent Ousmane Sonko are organizing a vigil to denounce the measures taken against the politician, currently in prison in a morals case. Ousmane Sonko accuses President Macky Sall – who denies it – of wanting to exclude him from the 2024 presidential election.
