marches for the climate bring together thousands of people all over France

More than 200 climate demonstrations took place on Saturday, November 6 across the planet to call for action in the face of climate change which threatens humanity. In France, several rallies were organized to put pressure on the negotiators gathered in Glasgow at COP26 and demand the “climate justice”.

Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes

Steps or gatherings were organized in Besançon (Doubs) and Crest (Drôme).

Bourgogne-Franche-Comté

Brittany

Ile-de-France

Hundreds of people gathered in Place de l’Hotel de Ville, according to France Bleu Paris. In Caen (Calvados), the participants started their march for the climate around 2:45 p.m. from the banks of the Orne in the direction of the city center, according to France Bleu Normandie. “By financing coal, gas and oil, the banks kill”, one could read on a banner.

New Aquitaine

The collective Marche pour le climat en Haute-Vienne perceives COP 26 as “a meeting of co-owners” where “there will be no major decision on the scale of the planet”. In Mont-de-Marsan (Landes), several hundred citizens mobilized in front of the prefecture, according to France Bleu Gascogne. Among the slogans displayed on the signs, “Terrans without land, you’re nothing”, or “Armagnac at 40 °, yes, the ocean, no”.

In Niort (Deux-Sèvres), 80 people gathered and marched through the streets of the city.

Occitanie

In Toulouse (Haute-Garonne), the climate demonstration brought together nearly 2,000 people, notably at the call of Alternatiba, Greenpeace Toulouse, Extinction Rebellion, FNE Midi-Pyrénées and Youth For Climate, according to France Bleu Occitanie. Led by young people from Toulouse, the march took place behind a banner “Our future and also yours”. The procession, strongly colored in green, was quickly joined at the bottom of the Allées Jean Jaurès by a few dozen anti-health pass demonstrators, who have also marched on the boulevards every Saturday for several weeks. The demonstration ended around 5:30 p.m.

Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur

In Nice (Alpes-Maritimes), a hundred demonstrators gathered at Place Garibaldi, according to France Bleu Azur. “COP26 is good but actions must follow now”, launched the participants.

Marches or rallies were also organized in Avignon (Vaucluse) and Toulon (Var).
