March (Martins Šimpermanis) from Ventspils has published a video for his song “The Man Come Get It”. It also features American rap star Redman, who shares his insights into what he believes to be the real hip-hop sound in the clip.
March is one of the rare Latvian rappers who performs songs in English and has become recognized worldwide. Last year, American rapper Redman included one of March’s songs – “The Man” – in his mixtape “Come Get It Playlist”, and now a video was made for this song. The video filming, direction and editing was provided by the visual design studio “Underrated Studios”.
March came to American attention with his songs thanks to the response to a call for young DJs, producers and rappers to send a private letter. Redman received about 200 comments from March’s fans under the published post and a couple of private Instagram posts, and responded asking March to send his audio material. After listening to the demo versions of the songs created by March and the domestic producer Tablis, the American star gave his approval, and the finished version of the song “The Man” was included in the mixtape or selection of songs created by Redman called “Come Get It”. The selection was created with the aim of showing the world’s rising hip-hop stars.
Being only 21 years young, March has already released four albums in the last five years and managed to warm up internationally recognized artists at concerts. Since 2018, March has been active in the association of independent musicians “401”. The song “The Man” is the title track of March and Tabla’s latest album, “The Super Extra More Experience”, which March describes as “extremely deliberate frivolity.”
