March 23 Strike Affects Schools in NÎMES Yet Again

Faced with the strike movement against the Government’s pension reform project, the City is anticipating the closure or reorganization of several of its services on Thursday, March 23.

Of the 83 schools in the City, 42 will require the establishment of a Minimum Reception Service (SMA), provided by the services of the City when the rate of teachers strikers is greater than 25%. This reception of students, only for children of parents without a childcare solution, will normally take place from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. with extracurricular activities in the morning and evening, and lunch in the canteen. During school time, if the lessons are not provided by the teacher, it is the ALAé who will take over and offer entertainment.

While 33 establishments will operate normally for extracurricular services (less than 25% of teachers on strike), 7 schools will be unable to provide an SMA: the Charles Martel kindergarten and the André Galan primary school, where there will be no no teacher or municipal agent; as well as the Pauline Kergomard and Jacques Prévert kindergartens, and the Charles Martel, Jean d’Ormesson and La Gazelle elementary schools, where even if lessons remain possible in several classes, school catering and morning and evening ALAé reception will not be able to operate. . At Prosper Mérimée elementary school, only school catering cannot be provided. The City contacted the families affected by the malfunctions by text message in advance to call on them to take their precautions.

In the five municipal structures, the situation differs according to the crèches: • Crèche les Alisiers: if the reception of the “medium” remains open, the “medium-large” section will be closed in the afternoon. Total closure for “babies”. • Crèche les Grillons: open all day. • Les Amelliers daycare centre: the establishment will close in the afternoon. • Crèche Eugenie Cotton: a minimum reception service will be organized for “babies” and the “medium-large” section for parents who work and without a childcare solution, within the limits of the supervision rate (15 children may be accommodated as much as possible). • Crèche Delon Soubeyran: while the drop-in center will be closed for the day, the reception of “babies” and “big kids” will take place normally. The “means” section will anticipate its closing at 3 p.m.
