1966 : Bobby Hull passed Maurice Richard and Bernard Geoffrion for the most goals in a season, when he scored his 51st goal in the third period of the Chicago Black Hawks’ 4-2 win over the New York Rangers at Chicago Stadium.

The Rangers take a 2-0 lead after 40 minutes. Hull then prepares the goal of Chico Maki which makes 2-1 and ends a scoreless streak that lasted more than 11 periods for Chicago. As Rangers defenseman Harry Howell sits in the penalty box, Hull breaks the record with a powerful slap shot that eludes goaltender Cesare Maniago for a power play goal at 5:34.

The match comes to a halt, as Black Hawks players surround Hull and fans cheer him on.
Chicago took the lead when Maki hit the mark at 7:25, then Doug Mohns scored the insurance goal with 1:19 remaining.
Exactly 14 years later, Hull would score the 610th and final goal of his NHL career with the Hartford Whalers in a 4-4 draw against the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena.

1935 : The St. Louis Eagles defeat the Red Wings 3-2 in their last home game of the 1934-35 season. The Eagles went bankrupt at the end of the season, and the NHL would not have a team in St. Louis until the Blues arrived in 1967.
1961 : Five years before setting the record for goals in a season, Hull marks the 100th of his NHL career in the Black Hawks’ 6-2 loss to the Montreal Canadiens at Chicago Stadium. He becomes the third fastest player to reach this plateau, behind Richard and Jean Béliveau.
1967 : The Black Hawks secure first place overall for the first time since entering the NHL in 1926 by beating the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-0 at Chicago Stadium. Ken Hodge and Lou Angotti score a brace each for Chicago, as Hull scores his 49th goal of the season. The Black Hawks are the last of six original NHL teams to lift the Prince of Wales Trophy, awarded at the time to the regular season champions.
1974 : Bobby Orr becomes the first player to collect 100 points in five straight seasons, when he collects an assist in the Boston Bruins’ 4-0 win over the Buffalo Sabers at Boston Garden. Gilles Gilbert signs his seventh shutout in the NHL.
1980 : Gordie Howe’s last visit to Detroit as a player turns out to be an unforgettable evening. Three days after making an appearance alongside their sons Mark and Marty Howe with the Whalers, the trio begin the game together against the Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena, with Gordie in the center, Marty on the left and Mark on the left. ‘right wing. None of the three players scored in this presence, but Gordie collected an assist later in the first period of the match, which ended 4-4.
1997 : Jari Kurri scores his 594th NHL goal in the Anaheim Mighty Ducks 2-1 win over the Red Wings at Arrowhead Pond. The goal gives him 1369 career points and puts him on par with Johnny Bucyk for 11th on the all-time scoring list. The win gives the Mighty Ducks a team record with their ninth straight game with at least one point (six wins, three draws).
2015 : Ken Hitchcock becomes the fourth coach to join the 700 Club in the NHL, as the Blues defeat the Philadelphia Flyers 1-0 in a shootout. The win gives Hitchcock a 700-424-95 record with 88 draws. The first three coaches to amass 700 wins – Scotty Bowman, Al Arbor and Joel Quenneville – also worked behind the bench for the Blues at some point in their careers. Hitchcock’s 700th victory comes exactly 15 years after he scored his 200th NHL victory when the Dallas Stars beat the Blues 4-2.
2018 : Alex Ovechkin, of the Washington Capitals, scores two goals in a 3-2 overtime win over the Winnipeg Jets to become the 20th player in NHL history to reach the 600-goal plateau. He is the fourth to achieve the feat in less than 1,000 games (990), joining Wayne Gretzky (718), Mario Lemieux (719) and Brett Hull (900).
That same evening, Marc-André Fleury of the Vegas Golden Knights became the 13th goalie in NHL history to record 400 victories. Fleury made 38 saves and Ryan Carpenter scores the deciding goal with 2:40 left in the third period to give the Golden Knights a 3-2 victory over the Flyers at Wells Fargo Center.
2019 : The top two picks in the 2004 NHL Draft each hit a big plateau in the third period, as the Pittsburgh Penguins defeat the Capitals 5-3 at PPG Paints Arena. Evgeni Malkin, of the Penguins, collected his second assist of the game on a power play goal of Phil Kessel at 11:56 for his 1,000th point in the NHL. At 2:02 pm, Ovechkin prepared for the power play goal of John Carlson for his 1200th career point. Ovechkin (first overall) and Malkin (second) become the fourth duo of players selected with the top two picks in an NHL Draft to each reach the 1,000 point mark.

2020 : NHL interrupts regular season due to coronavirus concerns. The Bruins win the Presidents’ Trophy with a 44-14-12 record. After a four-and-a-half-month hiatus, the NHL resumes its activities with a post-season tournament with 24 teams in the Stanley Cup Playoffs in two cities – Edmonton for Association teams. West and Toronto for Eastern Association training.
