Marcelo Gabriel is a native of Santa Rosa, Misiones; and Sol Codas is from Asunción. Each one, on their own, took advantage of social networks to show their passion for singing.
For more than a year, through WhatsApp, they kept in touch saying ‘you have to sing one day’, according to Sol commented. Until that day arrived when Marcelo stayed in a hotel very close to Sol’s house.
“He sends me his location and he was in a hotel here near my house and he says ‘come tomorrow, let’s record something’. The video had a good acceptance on the part of its people and my people “, commented the singer.
A short time later, Marcelo called her to sing together at a wedding and from there they continued to share the stage. The duo was formalized in mid-2018.
Since then they have been working with versions of well-known songs, in various musical styles, and also the unreleased song “Finally I understood it”, presented at the beginning of last year. They are also available on digital platforms.
Among these versions, in October 2019 they presented a “Mix to dance”, which includes the songs “Caraluna” and “Tabaco y Chanel”, Bacilos; “Procura”, by Chichi Peralta; and “A million stars”, by Polo Montañez. To the duo’s surprise, the video began to be recommended by YouTube and gained views. “In September we reached one million and in December we closed with 10 million. I did not understand what was happening, “said Sol.
As they highlighted, with these visualizations messages also began to arrive from Costa Rica, Ecuador, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Peru and also from some European countries. “A couple from Costa Rica told us that they want to take us to their wedding next year at all costs,” said the singer.
That is why by 2021 they plan to present new topics, as well as continue to maintain their presence on social networks. “We realized that we open ourselves a lot to the international public and that is very crazy,” they added.
Regarding favorite styles, Marcelo said that they are “hybrids”, but that they like melodic music in general.
Sol adds that they really enjoy performing ballads and boleros. “We always say that we are like old souls,” he said with a laugh.
He also stressed that they enjoy Latin music a lot, to make the public dance.
And while health measures allow them to participate in some private events, every Friday at 10:00 p.m. they share with the public a live peña presenting about an hour of songs. The meetings are held on Marcelo Gabriel’s YouTube channel and, as they commented, they are already in the 39th edition of these virtual meetings.
