Hamburg – Just in time before the start of the decisive second half of the 2nd Bundesliga next weekend, it’s all about Hamburger SV once again topsy-turvy. In the youth performance center and between club icons Horst Hrubesch and professional coach Tim Walter there is more than just crackling. And on Wednesday afternoon came Marcell Jansen resigned from his position as supervisory board member at HSV Fußball AG.

Jansen resigns

Jansen was fired by the head of the control committee almost a year ago Michael Papenfuss replaced. There have been discussions about the 38-year-old again and again in the past. The relationship with investor Klaus-Michael Kühne, for example, was not the best. Twelve months ago, the ex-national player survived a vote-out request at the general meeting.

“To exercise my role as president even more intensively”

Jansen explained: “This decision is well thought out. Resigning from the Supervisory Board allows me to exercise my role as President even more intensively. As a club, we are facing important months with many relevant decisions. The topics and tasks at HSV eV are diverse and extensive. Our focus remains on advancing this together and, in exchange with members, taking on board their interests HSV to represent. As the executive committee, we maintain a close and trusting exchange, so that HSV eV continues to represent a clear position on the supervisory board. Now the full focus on the end of the season is crucial to ensure promotion to the Bundesliga this year.”

The club announced that Vice President Papenfuß will remain on the supervisory board of HSV Fußball AG as a representative of Hamburger Sport-Verein eV and will serve as its chairman.

NLZ secondary theater of war

In the youth performance center (NLZ), the blessing of the house is awry. A restructuring by the sports director Jonas Boldt caused some unrest. Under young boss Hrubesch, another management level was installed, led by “newcomer” Loic Fave as sporting director. “BILD” reported on it. The employees were not fully initiated into this process and felt “not included”. An internal email is said to have explained the whole thing. However, the relationship doesn’t seem to be quite so clean. Especially since Hrubesch apparently isn’t a big fan of “Walter football”. The connection between Boldt, Walter and Fave is exciting. They all know Thies Bliemeister, Fave’s advisor, very well. The new concept was presented to NLZ employees on Wednesday afternoon.
