Mandarin Oriental has named Marcel Thoma as General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, New York, where he will oversee business and manage hotel operations. Mr. Thoma will also serve as Area Vice President, Operations, and will now oversee two other hotels in the region: Mandarin Oriental, Boston and Mandarin Oriental, Santiago; but also MO Residences: New York, Beverly Hills and Fifth Avenue, which are scheduled to open soon.

Marcel Thomas has over 25 years of experience in the industry. He began his career in Zurich, at the Widder Hotel, before continuing at the Ritz-Carlton, in Spain and Mexico. He then held several management positions at Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, New York, The Carlyle, New York and Swire Hotel’s The Upper House, Hong Kong. His career within the group began at headquarters 3 years ago, before taking on the role of General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Marrakech just a few months after his arrival.
Born in Switzerland and graduated from the École Hôtelière de Lausanne, he speaks fluently, in addition to his mother tongue, German, English, French and Spanish.
