Marca lashed by bad weather in the late evening yesterday

Wave of bad weather yesterday evening, May 24, on the Marca with strong wind, heavy rain, thunderstorms and patchy hailstorms, even very intense ones. Among the areas most affected was the Municipality of Spresiano: the rainfall caused various floods, including that of the railway underpass in via Lazzaris, while due to strong gusts of wind some public lighting poles were uprooted while large branches also ended up on the Pontebbana (one was removed near the Il Tulipano shop, photo below), fortunately without causing any injuries. Heavy hailstorms hit Montebelluna (damage and flooding reported especially between the County and Biadene), Giavera del Montello, Maser (especially the Crespignaga area) and Asolo where the downtown streets were covered with a blanket of water and ice grains. An optical effect similar to that created by a snowfall (photo at the bottom of the page). Any damage to agriculture has yet to be assessed: the hail would have also hit the area of the Unesco hills. At work throughout the evening some teams of the firefighters of Treviso and of the various detachments and the patrols of the carabinieri who have regulated the traffic in the most critical areas.
