Marc Overmars accepts suspension for inappropriate behavior

Marc Overmars, Antwerp’s football director, has decided not to appeal against his suspension for inappropriate behavior. The Dutchman could still go to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS), but decided not to do so.

Overmars was suspended by the Dutch Football Association for inappropriate behavior, which adopted the ruling of the Institute for Sports Jurisprudence (ISR). Afterwards, Fifa took over the suspension. Overmars appealed, but that yielded no results. He is now no longer taking any further steps.

“Marc, in consultation with his family, has made the decision not to initiate any further proceedings,” says his spokesperson Frank Neervoort. “That means that he will not be active for Antwerp until mid-November. We will not provide any further explanation for this. We’ll just leave it at that. Marc is currently also about to go on holiday.”
