Marc Marquez Tells Accident Chronology at FP2 MotoGP Netherlands 2021 : Okezone Sports

SHAFTS Marc Marquez had an accident during the second free practice (FP2) MotoGP The Netherlands at the Assen Circuit, on Friday, June 26, 2021. The Repsol Honda Team racer explained the chronology of the cause of the crash, one of which was due to technical problems.

The second free practice was colored by rain that wet the circuit making the track slippery. At that time, Marquez failed to control the motorbike and was thrown into the circuit barrier at Turn 10.

The racer nicknamed The Baby Alien explained that there was a technical problem that made him fall. Therefore, he hopes that the team’s technicians can fix the shortcomings ahead of the 2021 Dutch MotoGP FP 3.

“At this corner we relied a lot on traction control, but it wasn’t there and when I was cornering the rear started sliding and then I fell,” he said, quoting the Repsol Honda Team page, Saturday (26/6/2021).

For information, tranction control is a common feature on motorcycle MotoGP racers. This feature is useful for preventing tires from slipping and slipping when road conditions are wet when turning corners.

“We need to understand what happened to get the confidence to go through that corner again. Before this we had a positive day and in Free Practice 2 I felt good,” continued the six-time world champion.

Despite the accident, Marquez felt lucky. He didn’t get injured so he can still continue with FP 3 which will take place on Saturday (26/6/2021).

“I have to say I feel lucky to have escaped in good shape overall, an accident like this can be very hard and very dangerous,” he said.

“It hurts, but there’s nothing wrong. It was a strange accident because I didn’t think that I crossed the line and I rode like in the morning, finding the limit and what way to follow.”
