Marc Marquez Struggles to Overcome Injuries and Changes in MotoGP

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Marc Marquez can no longer rely on his talent to make a difference in MotoGP. Continuous injuries that plague him, and changes in aerodynamics on the motorbike MotoGP currently it is considered difficult for his talent to overcome the problems at hand Repsol Honda At the moment.

This opinion was conveyed by a former MotoGP expert who is now competing in WSBK, Alvaro Bautista. He predicts that the same level of domination that Marquez once planted will not be present again in the future.

“I think it leaves a mental scar when you have to spend so much time off the track and have so many surgeries, even when you feel you have fully recovered,” he told Speedweek, quoted from Crash, Monday (24/7/2023).

“The physical condition is one thing, but the mental side is another. Marquez has great talent, but in his current situation, you can’t count on that alone.”

Bautista also spoke about the technical aspects of MotoGP and how this impacts Marquez, which he is well aware of following the two days of testing at Misano.

“Technically, he wasn’t in the best position either, Honda didn’t allow him to ride the way he wanted,” added Bautista.

He thinks the way of riding in MotoGP has changed because all the aerodynamics and electronics have also changed. The discoveries that have been made and applied to motorbikes no longer fit Marquez’s way of riding before his injury.

“It all started when Marc got injured. When he came back he found a completely different MotoGP, a different way of riding, not so aggressive. You can see that they are flying less often. Marc has always been aggressive, but you can see that this is not working anymore,” said the reigning WSBK champion.
