Marc Marquez officially left the Repsol Honda Team after MotoGP 2023 end.

Marquez still has one season remaining on his contract at Honda. However, Marquez and Honda have reached an agreement to end the contract.

Quoted from the MotoGP website, both parties agreed that the decision to terminate the contract was the best for both parties.

“Honda Racing Corporation and Marc Marquez have both chosen to terminate their four-year contracts prematurely at the end of the 2023 MotoGP season.”

“With one year remaining on the four-year contract between HRC and Marc Marquez, both parties agreed to end their cooperation after the completion of the 2023 season. Both parties agreed that in the best interests of each party will look for other ways in the future to achieve respective goals and targets,” wrote Honda.

Marc Marquez won six MotoGP world titles with Honda. Marquez even immediately became MotoGP world champion when he just moved up to MotoGP class in 2013.

After that, Marquez dominated MotoGP by winning the world champion title in the 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 seasons. Marquez’s greatness began to fade when he suffered a fatal accident at the start of MotoGP 2020.

Marquez had to undergo a number of operations on the right humerus bone. Even though he has recovered, Marquez has not been able to reach the level he had during the 2019 and previous MotoGP seasons.

One of the things that is said to be affecting Marquez’s performance is that the Honda motorbike is currently having difficulty matching the Ducati’s performance.
