Jakarta –
Marc Marquez’s progress on the MotoGP track is on the decline. MotoGP legends predict what the future holds for The Baby Alliens, can they still compete or finish without being able to catch Valentino Rossi’s record?
The MotoGP legend, Dani Pedrosa, who had worked with Repsol Honda, openly stated that the pattern that Marc Marquez had with Honda kept repeating, and that was the wrong way. Honda had to find another way, without having to throw Marquez’s body off the RC213V.
“It’s clear that the situation is starting to get a little tiring. Because the pattern repeats, the pattern repeats and it’s something that is hard to digest and understand. You have to do a little bit of analysis and they have to find the reason,” said Dani Pedrosa.
Meanwhile, Marc Marquez’s former teammate, Jorge Lorenzo, concluded that Marquez would leave Honda. He will look for a team that can accommodate his potential as a world champion.
“Yes (he will change teams). I think he will go to Ducati with an offer he will not like, but he will accept it,” Jorge Lorenzo was quoted as saying in an interview with MotoGP.
“I don’t know if it’s in a factory team or a satellite team, after three or four years without winning, he has to be motivated again,” he explained.
“He will be 31 or 32 years old and many young riders are stronger. But what is clear is that Marc Marquez is Marc Marquez,” he concluded.
Another MotoGP legend, Wayne Rainey, suggested that Marc Marquez move from Honda so that he would perform brilliantly again. He believes Marc Marquez still has great potential on the track.
“I am very sad to see Marc in this situation. He has fallen a lot in his career, but he has always managed to get back up as if he was made of rubber. However, in the last few years, he has had some really tough crashes, but now he has to trying to minimize mistakes, that’s all he can do,” Rainey said in an interview on the MotoGP website.
“How can he make fewer mistakes? The first thing is to be able to have a bike he feels comfortable out on the track, but right now, he can’t seem to have it,” continued the three-time 500cc world champion.
“There is a lot of work to be done before you become competitive. Marquez has nothing more to prove, he can only wait and hope the bike improves, I think he can understand the situation.”
“Sometimes changes are also needed, a breath of fresh air at another team is not always negative. I’m sure this kind of thought has crossed his mind, especially after seeing what his brother Alex did when he moved to Ducati,” added Raine.
The same thing was said by Mick Doohan, the five-time world champion saw that Marquez could still win the world title. The MotoGP legend mentions the name KTM as the right manufacturer rather than Ducati.
“He has a good relationship with Honda but it is a working and business relationship,” the Australian added.
“His business is motor racing and he needs a proper office to work from.”
“Right now it’s not Honda. For example, if he were on a KTM it would be interesting to see what he could do,” he said.
Mick Doohan did not mention that Ducati was the right team for Marquez. Because, according to him, Ducati has many younger riders.
“I think he’s got the potential to win another championship but the years are passing quickly now. He needs to focus on what Marc wants to do and if it’s to stay with Honda and develop them from this position then that’s fine too, as long as Honda is committed to races. But to just make up numbers, I don’t think he wants to be there,” he said.
According to detikers, will Marc Marquez leave or stay at Honda?
