Bola.net – Marc Marquez finally confirmed that he really will ride his old Ducati motorbike, aka the Desmosedici GP23, when defending Gresini Racing in MotoGP 2024. Even so, the Spanish racer is not at all worried thanks to Ducati’s high level of performance .
Even though it has 4 teams and 8 riders, Ducati only wants to provide the latest factory spec motorbikes for four riders. Those who received the Desmosedici GP24 were the Ducati Lenovo Team duo, Pecco Bagnaia and Enea Bastianini, as well as the Prima Pramac Racing duo, Jorge Martin and Franco Morbidelli.
The VR46 Racing Team duo, Marco Bezzecchi and Luca Marini, as well as the Gresini duo, Marc and Alex Marquez, will only get the Desmosedici GP23. This motorbike is the motorbike ridden by the Lenovo duo and the Pramac duo this season, and is currently topping the racers’ standings through Bagnaia and Martin.

According to Marquez, riding a GP23 will not be a big problem, because the motorbike has proven to be very competitive this season, and it is almost certain that it will be the motorbike that wins the world title. However, it is not known whether Marquez will be able to try out some of Ducati’s new equipment.
“Next year will be interesting. In the end, I will get a motorbike that will win the world title this year. I will get a motorbike in 2023, but I don’t know how the evolution will be,” said this 30 year old racer via MotoGP.com in Australia, Wednesday (18/10/2023).
Ducati Corse General Manager, Gigi Dall’Igna, has also emphasized that, despite being an eight-time world champion, Marquez will still be treated like other Ducati riders. According to him, a rider of Marquez’s caliber doesn’t need special treatment to perform well.

Even so, passing Sky Italia, on Thursday (12/10/2023), Dall’Igna admitted that he hoped that Marquez would really be allowed by Honda to take part in the post-season test in Valencia, Spain, 28 November 2023. “We’ll see later whether there will be special attention for Marc,” he said.
“I don’t know whether he will immediately work with us in Valencia. I don’t think he needs special treatment. We will remain sporty and give the riders the best opportunity to express themselves at the best level,” concluded the former Technical Director of Aprilia Racing.
For the record, Dall’Igna and Marquez’s paths crossed indirectly. Dall’Igna is the former Head of the Piaggio Group Racing Department, and witnessed Marquez present the 2010 GP125 world title to Derbi, a subsidiary of Piaggio.
