Marc Marquez Actions in Portugal: Debut, Drama, Comeback

Jakarta

This week Marc Marquez will comeback to the track by racing on MotoGP Portugal 2021. For Marquez, the race in Portugal is also full of meaning.

Marc Marquez practically missed the whole last season due to injury. After crashing in the first race of MotoGP 2020, Marquez tried to get back in the second series but failed to participate in the race. He then missed the whole season.

The eight-time grand prix world champion, with six of them in the primary class, also had to miss the first two series of MotoGP 2021 which was held at the Losail Circuit, Qatar. But now Marc Marquez is ready to return.

For the third series in Portimao in MotoGP Portugal 2021, Marc Marquez is confirmed to participate. Even though he may not immediately exhaust his energy after a long absence, his presence will still be greeted enthusiastically.

For Marc Marquez, this comeback moment in Portugal will add to the story of how the country has special stories in its racing career. In 2010, for example.

At that time Marquez was still appearing in the 125cc class and had a fierce battle with Nicolas Terol at the top of the standings. In the 16th series at that time there was the Portuguese Grand Prix, which was still being held at Estoril.

In the race, it rains a lot. The red flag appeared, even though at that time Marc Marquez was trailing Terol from second place. The drama continued because Marquez fell on the way to the grid and had problems with the motorbike. He then has to start from the pit lane, aka behind the other riders on the grid.

However, Marc Marquez in the process managed to complete the race in Portugal in first place to claim his 10th win at 125cc in 2010 on his way to winning his first world title.

Two years before that, Portuguese soil also presented another special story in Marc Marquez’s career. It was on the national circuit that Baby Alien had its first grand prix race.

His GP debut was made at Estoril in 2008. Marc Marquez passed the qualifying session in 26th place before finishing the race in 18th place.
