Marc Lewitinn’s longest COVID-19 patient dies after 850 days of hospitalization

IDOZONE.ID – Marc Lewitinn, a COVID-19 patient died after undergoing treatment with a ventilator for 850 days.

The New Jersey man died at the age of 76, to be exact on July 23, 2022, from a heart attack.

Although there are no complete statistics for how long Covid patients survive on ventilation, medical experts say Lewitinn is the longest-lived COVID-19 patient.

Doctors who treated Lewitinn say his mental and physical abilities have led him to go this far.

“It has had a long and arduous journey,” wrote Dr. Abraham Sanders, one of the doctors who treated Levitinn, was quoted by the New York Times.

“He was a strong man and a recipient of cutting-edge medical care,” the doctor added.

Lewitinn was first confirmed with COVID-19 on March 25, 2020 after returning home from Starbucks, then his condition worsened and he required treatment, he even went into a coma.

After six months in a coma, Levitinn regained consciousness and was transferred to a hospital closer to his home in New Jersey.

Although he had recovered from COVID-19 at the time, he was still on ventilation because his condition was still weak.

After struggling for more than two years, Levitinn is finally dead.
