Marc Anthony receives special award

This week, Marc Anthony received the SoundExchange Hall of Fame Award for being one of the company’s most streamed artists. “Marc Anthony has been making chart-topping Latin, salsa and multilingual pop music for nearly forty years,” said Michael Huppe, president and CEO of SoundExchange, in a statement. “Marc has consistently elevated the genre and is highly respected in the industry. “It is an honor to recognize his artistry and achievements with the SoundExchange Hall of Fame Award.” The announcement came immediately after the New York artist of Puerto Rican origin also celebrated the 10th annual Maestro Cares Foundation Changing Lives, Building Dreams gala, where Queen Latifah, Eugenio Derbez and Sam Nazarian were recognized for their contributions and charitable work.

New Latin songs with 1 billion streams

Two Latin songs reached 1 billion streams on Spotify this week. “She dances alone” by Eslabon Armado and Peso Pluma became the first Mexican music song to achieve the feat on December 3, to which Eslabon reacted on Instagram saying: “Happy and blessed we woke up today Sunday with this, and everything Thank God and you for making it possible for the song to reach a billion.” (A billion in English it is 1,000 million in Spanish)

Karol G, for her part, entered Spotify’s “Billions Club” during her Mañana Sera Bonito Festival in Medellín for her 2022 hit “Provenza.” This is the Colombian star’s third song to reach 1 billion views after “Tusa” with Nicki Minaj, and “China” with Anuel AA, Daddy Yankee, J Balvin and Ozuna.

The best Latin pop songs Billboard

Speaking of “Ella baila sola” and “Provenza”, both are part of the list of the “50 best pop songs in Spanish from 2000 to 2023” by Billboardin which the editors of Billboard Latin y Billboard Español ranked the best Latin pop songs of 2000 so far. The first ranked at No. 12 and the second at No. 16. The top five hits on the list are: “A Pure Dolor” by Son By Four (No. 5), “Abrázame Muy Fuerte” by Juan Gabriel (No. 4), “Eres” by Café Tacvba (No. 3), “Bailando” by Enrique Iglesias, Descemer Bueno & Gente de Zona (No. 2) and “Despacito” by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee at No. 1. Emilia’s historic achievement

Meanwhile, Emilia continues her good streak. This week, the Argentine pop star not only sold out 10 dates at the Movistar Arena in Buenos Aires in 10 hours, but he made history. As part of her 2024 .mp3 tour, Emilia surpassed the previous record of Luis Miguel, who sold out nine dates in one day at the venue and added another date later. “Having sold-out shows in my career is really special,” the 27-year-old singer, who is currently promoting her second album, told Billboard. “For me, it basically means that my fans are connecting with my music. Myke Towers on the hunt for talent

In a new national campaign called “Rockstar Energy Presents: Mic Check with Myke Towers,” Rockstar Energy and Towers are teaming up to find the next up-and-coming Latin star. The partnership will reward an aspiring artist who will be selected by Towers himself, with the opportunity to open for one of his shows in 2024 and receive star treatment from Rockstar Energy, which will offer an artist development fund.

“I know all about the heart and relentless determination it takes to break into the music industry,” the Puerto Rican artist said in a statement. “I strongly believe in giving back to give artists the opportunity to shine and be one step closer to achieving their dreams because I have traveled the same path to achieve mine.”
