Marc Distelmeier would have loved to cheer on his wrestling idols from the American WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) live. He even had the chance to see the show fighters from the USA up close in Germany. The stars from overseas were in Berlin at the end of August. “But at 2000 euros for a seat right by the ring, I unfortunately had to pass,” explained the young man from Prenzlau.
Tickets cost a fortune
Even if he had been able to save up the money, his great passion would not have been worth it, the man from the district town said: “I prefer to play it safe when it comes to finances. Something in the household can always break, like the washing machine or the refrigerator.” He would also rather invest in a vacation than spend a fortune on a show. But the 27-year-old single was still able to fulfill his dream of seeing wrestlers up close.

Luckily for him, a small regional organizer also came to the capital at the weekend. During the “Unlimited Wrestling” tour from Thale, the Uckermark resident had the opportunity to see at least a few “smaller” idols. In return, the Prenzlauer resident accepted the hassle with Deutsche Bahn on Saturday morning: “I almost missed the start, though. The first train was delayed by an hour and a half, so I took the alternative connection to Angermünde. But it suddenly ended in Bernau, where I then had to change to the S-Bahn.”

Marc Distelmeier arrived at the event at the last minute, and shortly afterwards the gong sounded for the first round. Days later, the employee of the Uckermärkische Werkstätten is still completely blown away by the experience. “Wrestling is really great cinema and guaranteed to give you goosebumps,” he added enthusiastically in an interview with the Uckermark Kurier: “And ultimately it doesn’t matter whether the big American wrestlers are on stage or ones from Germany. After all, they all do their best so that the audience gets their money’s worth.” He was shaking with every punch and every jump, Marc Distelmeier revealed with a laugh: “The show was really perfect.”
Fake blood flows
And even if the screams of pain are not always real and fake blood sometimes flows, there is no question that the actors have to train hard for this and are not only strength athletes, but also damn good actors.
“They just look angry,” says Marc Distelmeier about his idols: “It’s just a show.” (Photo: Private)
He also likes the fact that everyone takes on a role, there are the “good” and the “bad”, the “daring” and the “cowardly”. Marc Distelmeier finds this totally fascinating: “My hero is John Cena, who comes with the slogan ‘Never give up’. Those are true words. Because for each of us, it’s about not giving up in life.”
For example, his enthusiasm for this sport helped him to get his depression under control. At first it was so severe that he couldn’t even finish his apprenticeship as a chef. Now he works in metal construction in the Uckermark workshops and tries every day not to give up. The show in Berlin gave him new strength.
