Now that it has been freezing for a few days, the marathon riders are getting ready for a possible Dutch championship on natural ice. It could just be that the race will be held next Sunday or Monday.
In 2013, the last battle for the national title was held on natural ice in the Netherlands. The victory then went to Christijn Groeneveld.
Today, Jillert Anema’s marathon team was already looking for the natural ice to train. They made their rounds on the Nannewiid, a lake near Oudehaske, west of Heerenveen.
