Seven weeks before the kick-off, the volunteers of the Marathon du Der gathered on Friday, April 21, in Montier-en-Der. The information meeting focused on the novelties of the year, the instructions on the running of the event and its preparation, and the confirmation of the presence of the members in the various positions to be occupied. Indeed, nothing is left to chance because the organization depends on the reputation and the security put in place for this event which celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. The managers of the five sectors to be covered, in order from start to finish (Fred, Didier, Denis, Marc, and Jacky) presented in images the various points where volunteers will be called upon to intervene to ensure safety and supplies for runners.
The edition of June 11 will be rich in special events to celebrate this anniversary with dignity. A godmother, in the person of Muriel Hurtis, Olympic medalist and world champion, will be present from Saturday to Sunday and she will take part in the event. Emphasis is placed on the environment, with instructions regarding the waste left on the passage of the race, and the partnership with associations concerned with nature. Ten musical animations will be distributed on the course and four foggers. New partners make it possible to maintain registration fees at the same level. The “village” where competitors can still register on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., will have its place in the Jard with entertainment for everyone on Saturday and the start will take place at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday for marathon runners and at 8 a.m. h for relayed distances (by two or four runners).
