The three-girl group “Madara” has created a patriotic greeting to Latvia on its birthday. It is called “Māras zeme II” – to create an even more ambitious sound, the song was created in an expanded composition.
The song “Māras zeme II” was already released in 2020, but now a more musically ambitious version has been created with the involvement of a wider lineup of musicians. At one time, “Dagamba” musician Valters Pūce participated in the arrangement of the song, but now a new sounding of the patriotic song has been created, giving it more power and bringing the listener even closer to the true essence of the song.
The author of the music and lyrics of the single is the cellist and singer Madara Fogelman, who, as it is easy to understand, is also the leader of the group “Madara”. The song was created by continuing the successful cooperation with the producer of the studio “White Wide Production” Jānis Narbuts and the permanent members of the band participating in the recording – in addition to Madara, cellist Erna Daugaviete and double bass player Undīne Adele Berga, as well as drummer Tom Kagainis and piper Juris Lipsni. The song was produced by its author herself.
“In our ancestral worldview, Mara is the earth,” says Madara. “The whole visible, tangible world is under her care. Love and holiness are the main attributes attributed to Mary, she is the creator and nurturer of life. Mara acts as the preserver of the form of the physical world. When it is torn apart, it is Mara who puts the world back together and restores it.”
With this song, the group sends a greeting to their homeland during the holidays, and also invites people to return to nature and love all living things. “The girls emphasize that in times when weapons are raised against each other, we have forgotten the true mission of a person on this earth, which is to love and respect. Calling on Māra, Madara, Erna and Undīne ask her for a blessing over our land Latvia and also the rest of the world,” reports the girls’ support team.
“In my music, every word has a meaning, every sound, every vibration,” emphasizes Madara. “This is not just a song. It is like the anthem of people full of worries, but filled with hope, about our home, land and peace in the world, because I love my country – Latvia!”
