Of the great sportsmen of the turn of the century, few have earned the status of world famous legend and flattery even off the pitch, one of them is undoubtedly the icon of football Diego Loving Maradona.
Out of the field, the Champion (recently deceased) he loved beautiful cars. We have already talked about some of its unique cars, of the jewels that are part of his private collectionto. Today is the turn of the P.orsche 911 Type 964 Carrera 2 Convertible Works Turbo Look del 1992 (estimated value between 150,000 and 200,000 euros), delivered new to ‘El Diego’ in November 1992, during his last European football season. The car will be sold at Bonhams’ Les Grand Marques du Monde à Paris auction scheduled for March 3-10, 2021.
‘El Diego’ was hailed as a hero when he arrived in Seville, with the team and fans adoring him. Appointed team captain, he rented the villa of Juan Antonio Ruiz Roman, Spain’s most famous bullfighter, and took over on November 6, 1992 the top-of-the-range Porsche silver. One of only 1,200 variants produced in two years, the 911 is powered by a 250 hp 3.6-liter Carrera 2 engine, and reaches a top speed of 260 km / h.
The mere fact that the car belonged to Diego Armando Maradona will obviously raise the price even more. This is the car he drove during his last year of football in Europe, precisely in Seville. Right behind the wheel of this special Porsche 911 Maradona was surprised at whiz through a built-up area at around 180 km / h.

He was later recalled by the Argentine national team and thus left Sevilla in June 1993. Porsche in the meantime was sold to a private individual from Mallorca who kept it for twenty years; the car passed into the hands of several French collectors. Owned by the seller since 2016, today it is sold again and is in practically original but well preserved condition, having traveled approx 120.000 km.
Paul Darvill, Bonhams European Auctions Manager, said: “We are glad to present this Porsche, an excellence of the nineties, with a unique provenance, which will appeal to many collectors and football fans all over the world ”. The 911 lines up with over 60 collector cars already delivered for the first fully digital auction for Bonhams.
