“The pressure was extraordinary. Maradona was the number one star in the tournament and doping wasn’t taken so seriously back then, so they wanted to deal with it after the championship. I warned Blatter that if they hide it, it will come back to him like a boomerang. Later, though , we shook hands with Maradona,” says Jiří Dvořák, a Swiss neurologist of Czech origin, who was FIFA’s chief doctor for more than 20 years.
