According to the Argentine television statement, Maradona suffered a heart attack that claimed his life days after a successful surgery in the Argentine capital, Buenos Aires, and Argentina’s President Alberto Fernandez announced 3 days of mourning.
“The Argentine Football Association, through its president, Claudio Tapia, expresses the deep sadness and pain after the departure of our legend, Diego Armando Maradona … you will always be in our hearts,” the Argentine Football Association statement said.
Maradona, born on October 30, 1960, participated with the Argentine national team in 4 versions of the World Cup, which began in 1982, and ended with a doping scandal in the 1994 edition, and was crowned the World Cup in 1986.
Maradona played for Boca Juniors, Barcelona and Seville in Spain, while his best period was in the Italian club Napoli at the end of the eighties and the beginning of the nineties.
