Diego Armando Maradona decided to continue to withdraw his resignation from the job as coach of the team Jemnasia ES Esgrima in a sudden turnaround two days after her introduction to the management of the struggling team in the Argentine league.
“(Maradona) will continue with Jimnasia,” Maradona’s business director Christian Brajarnik told an Argentine radio station.
Maradona decided to change his mind after the club’s presidential candidates agreed to put their differences aside before Saturday’s elections.
Maradona took over last September, on the condition that Gabriel Pellegrino continue as president of the club.
Pellegrino’s sudden decision not to run in the elections led to Maradona’s sudden resignation.
Maradona, winner of the 1986 World Cup as a player with Argentina and seen as one of the greatest players of all time, has been charged with saving the club from La Plata from landing.
Maradona lost his first 3 games in office and although he won three of his five games after that, the team is still in the relegation zone.
