Actually, Condor’s little sister should only start from Hamburg and Munich. Now there are flights from Nuremberg, Stuttgart, Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Leipzig – to a single destination.
Condor’s little sister airline, Marabu, has not yet completed a flight, but there are already signs of growth in terms of fleet and departure airports. Originally, the airline wanted to start its first summer season with six jets, but now there are seven, explained Marabu boss Paul Schwaiger recently.
The second airline of the financial investor Attestor wants to operate an Airbus A320 Neo itself. The other six aircraft come on a wet lease basis from the airlines Nordica and Heston Airlines. What was not known until now: Marabu will not only start in Germany as planned from Hamburg and Munich.
Five more departure airports with one destination
From May, the airline will also be offering flights from Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Leipzig and Nuremberg, as aeroTELEGRAPH learned from well-informed circles. The only Marabu destination from these five airports is Heraklion on the Greek island of Crete.
Marabu boss Schwaiger recently had in an interview with the magazine Tourism news said that the strong Greek demand, especially for Crete, was the reason for the purchase of the seventh plane. There is also a “difficult slot situation” in Heraklion. According to Schwaiger, some flights will also be taken over for the sister airline, for example between Leipzig/Halle and Heraklion.
According to the information from aeroTELEGRAPH, the additional flights from the five airports are to be carried out under Marabu flight numbers and not wet lease orders from the sister company.
Prepared in the Netherlands
On Friday (April 14) the young airline’s first Airbus jet is expected in Nuremberg for training purposes. According to Flightradar 24, the machine should start at 9.30 a.m. in Woensdrecht, the Netherlands, where part of the fleet is being prepared for use. Planned arrival at Albrecht Dürer Airport is about an hour later. A connecting flight to Munich is then planned.
According to the flight plan data portal CH-Aviation, there are currently four Airbus A320 Neos in Woensdrecht to be prepared for use at Marabu. The Airbus A320 with the registration VP-CKN completed a test flight over the North Sea on March 24th. The maiden flight of the airline, which has grown even before take-off, is planned for May in Hamburg.
Destinations from Hamburg and Munich
From Hamburg and Munich, Marabu will head for destinations in Spain, Portugal, Greece, Italy, Estonia and Egypt. The Munich timetable also includes Split in Croatia.
