Maple again. Canada beat the Czech Republic in the final of the Ice Hockey World Youth Championship

The final of the Ice Hockey World Youth Championship was held.

In the decisive match, the hosts from Canada and the team of the Czech Republic met. And if the Maples consistently win gold or win medals, then the Czech Republic has not won gold since 2001 and has not finished with a medal since 2005.

In the opening period, with a game tied, Canada converted the majority, but their opponent did not use two one-on-one outings.

The second 20 minutes went into the lead of the hosts, who didn’t convert 3-4 right chances, but scored their goal. A beautiful goal was scored by Canada captain Shane Wright.

More than half of the third period was pretty dull, so it looked like Canada would calmly take the match to victory. Apparently, the Klenovs themselves thought so.

However, then the Czech Republic unexpectedly scored two goals in less than a minute! Not without luck (first shot after hitting the post, and then a rebound), but the European team evened the score and turned the match into overtime.

Extra time in a 3v3 format was won by the more technical Canadians, who converted their two-on-one performance after an opponent’s mistake. The decisive goal was scored by Dylan Gunther.

For Canada U20, this is the second consecutive title and the 20th in the history of the Youth World Cup.
