On the seventh day of a fierce fight by firefighters in Gironde on Tuesday July 19, the results of these three major fires reported 19,300 hectares destroyed by fire.
Operations remain difficult on site due to weather conditions and a shifting wind that constantly changes the direction of fire. This Monday, the five campsites of the Dune du Pilat were reduced to ashes and thousands of people were evacuated.
