While the circulation of the virus is intensifying extremely quickly in France, mainly due to the reason of the variant Delta, its progress is still slow in the Puy de Dome.
Nevertheless, the incidence rate is 79 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and therefore now exceeds the alert threshold (set at 50). And the trend is on the rise.
The incidence rate among young people is even more alarming. CovidTracker data indicate a rate of 238 cases per 100,000 inhabitants among 20-29 year olds, and 154 cases per 100,000 inhabitants among 10-19 year olds.
The agglomeration of Clermont-Ferrand is most affected by this rebound in virus circulation. We take stock, municipality by municipality.
The situation of the municipalities around Clermont-Ferrand
Many municipalities in Puy-de-Dôme are still spared by the virus (incidence rate less than 10) when the maps darken in neighboring departments, in particular the Loire and the Rhône.
The main cities affected are concentrated around Clermont-Ferrand, whose incidence rate is estimated at between 50 and 150 by Public health France. The same goes for Royat, Saint-Genès-Champanelle, Aubière, Pérignat-lès-Sarliève, Cournon-d’Auvergne, Le Cendre, Lempdes, Pont-du-Château, Gerzat, Cébazat or even Blanzat.
A handful of municipalities are currently at the upper level, with a rate between 150 and 250. This is the case in La Roche-Blanche, Le Crest, Saint-Amant-Tallende, Saint-Maurice, Aydat, Nébouzat, Ceyssat, Olby, Ménétrol, Saint-Julien-de-Coppel, Isserteaux, Yronde-et-Buron, Saint-Babel and Saint-Yvoine.
In the Clermont-Ferrand area, the virus is almost absent : Marsat, Sayat, Orcines, Saint-Beauzire et Lussat.
These towns with extreme rates
Throughout the department:
- these municipalities have a more maddening rate between 250 and 500 : Vernines, Saint-Pierre-Roche, Picherande, Eglisolles, Brousse, Sermentizon, Vollore-Ville, Noirétable, Clerlande, Lachaux, Aubiat and Saint-Maurice-près-Pionsat.
- With a rate between 500 and 1,000 : Briffons, Singles, Mareugheol, Sauvagnat-Sainte-Marthe, Vichel, Glaine-Montaigut and Neuville.
- With an incidence rate greater than 1,000 : Marcillat, Saint-Hilaire-les-Monges and Heume-l’Eglise.
The Covid-19 in Puy-de-Dôme in a few figures
The Puy-de-Dôme is no exception to the Delta variant which represents 85.9% of people tested positive (figures as of Monday 1is August 2021 according to CovidTracker).
The hospitals of the department are still spared from the overload of patients, while only 4% of intensive care beds are occupied by Covid-19 patients.
The vaccination campaign is ongoing, as 64.88% of the population of Puy-de-Dôme has received at least one dose. Results ahead of the national average, which stands at 62.20%.
