Data on the coronavirus situation in France continues to be closely monitored. More and more departments are once again becoming areas of vigilance due to the active circulation of the virus. This Friday, October 9, 2020, 70 departments are in a situation of high vulnerability and 72 in the red zone including 8 scarlet and 10 in the maximum alert zone including Paris and the inner suburbs.
Regarding the development of the situation Saturday 10 October 2020, there is 26.896 new confirmed cases in 24 hours. There is therefore in total at least 718.873 people affected by coronavirus since the start of the epidemic in France. There is, this October 10, 2020, 4.999 new people hospitalized these last 7 days in France, including 928 new patients who were admitted in intensive care. 54 people are deceased in France during the last 24 hours or 32,684 in total.

72 departments have a incidence rate, i.e. a number of positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants, greater than 50 and one unfavorable epidemic dynamics. They are therefore now located in the red zone or Active virus circulation area. Concretely, this means that prefects of these departments will be able promptly take further preventive and restrictive measures as well as new sanitary rules to try to stem the spread of the Coronavirus.
List of metropolitan areas in the scarlet zone: Marseille – Bordeaux – Lyon – Nice – Lille – Toulouse – Saint-Étienne – Rennes – Paris and inner suburbs – Rouen – Grenoble, Montpelier, Dijon and Clermont-Ferrand enter the scarlet zone.
As of October 8, 2020, 54 departments are in the red zone, 8 in the scarlet zone, 10 in the maximum alert zone. Paris and the inner suburbs (Hauts-de-Seine, Seine-Saint-Denis and Val de Marne) as well as Lille, Lyon, Grenoble and Saint-Étienne are maximum alert zone from Saturday October 10, 2020.
