The coronavirus infection, which began to spread from China at the turn of the year, was first detected in the Czech Republic in early March. Since then, 20,393 people have been infected in the Czech Republic, and more than three quarters have been cured. There are currently 4846 infected in the Czech Republic.

In most infected people, the course of the disease is mild. 122 people are hospitalized with coronavirus in the Czech Republic, 29 of whom are in severe condition.

The first death with coronavirus was reported by the authorities on Sunday, March 22 – in the early evening, a 95-year-old man lying in the infection department of the Bulovka Hospital died. Although at one point the daily increase in casualties repeatedly exceeded ten, it was only for a short period in early April, otherwise it was units of cases per day.

So far, most victims are reported in Prague, where 113 people died with coronavirus. It is followed by the Moravian-Silesian Region, where there are 84 victims. On the other hand, the Královéhradecký, Liberecký, Zlínský and Jihočeský regions have less than ten deaths.
