Now there is a digital map that shows if there is PFAS pollution in the ground in your area. You can also find out which health measures apply.

There is also a version for professionals that displays all detailed measurement data at field level. After all, heavy PFAS pollution can have consequences for construction sites.
stricter standards
The launch of the map came with the presentation of the second interim report by Flemish PFAS commission holder Karl Vrancken. He proposed stricter PFAS standards in soil and groundwater, among other things, to limit exposure and spread.
• There are PFAS in our drinking water, but in low concentrations
In concrete terms, Vrancken proposes a stricter standard in residential areas with a vegetable garden or chickens. There the standard goes from 18 micrograms/kg dry matter to 3.8 micrograms/kg. The stricter standard would not apply in areas without a vegetable garden and/or chickens, for example in highly urbanized areas. The standard for groundwater is also being tightened to the European limit for drinking water: 0.1 micrograms/litre for 20 types of PFAS and 0.5 micrograms/litre for the sum thereof.
Compensation scheme
The contract holder also stated that farmers in the vicinity of the 3M site in Zwijndrecht will receive a proposal for compensation next week. According to Vrancken, 37 farmers have submitted a file because they are experiencing a financial disadvantage due to the no-regretmeasures. ‘It is the first time that 3M has come up with a compensation,’ says Vrancken. He emphasizes that the compensation is separate from any compensation that may follow for the pollution itself.
