With an incidence rate of 298 cases of Covid-19 per 100,000 inhabitants, the department of Rhône is on alert. It is above the French average at 235 but remains, fortunately, well above the crazy figures reached along the Mediterranean coast. In Bouches-du-Rhône, the most affected department with an incidence rate of 679.
The fourth wave is here, although it seems less devastating for our department which nevertheless saw its incidence rate drop between the end of July and the beginning of August, going from 320 to 298.
Young people most affected
the variant Delta, scientifically called L452R, represents 95,9% cases according to Covid Tracker.
And it is young adults who contract it the most: out of 100,000 people aged 20 to 29, there are 570 cases; and 441 for 30-39 year olds.
The circulation of the virus in your municipality of Greater Lyon
Across the metropolitan area of Lyon, the incidence rate is slightly lower with 233 cases per 100,000 inhabitants according to the latest data communicated on Saturday August 7 by Santé Publique France. It still remains well beyond the alert threshold set at 50.
Only one municipality seems to escape this rebound in the epidemic. It is La Tour-de-Salvagny with less than 10 cases per 100,000 people. Follow Fleurieu-sur-Saone and Curis-au-Mont-d’Or with an incidence rate between 10 and 20; as well as Saint-Romain-au-Mont-d’Or with between 20 and 50 cases.
Five municipalities have an incidence rate between 50 and 150: Albigny-sur-Saone, Charbonnieres-les-Bains, Lissieu, Limonest, Poleymieux-au-Mont-d’Or.
About twenty others have between 150 and 250 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. Among them, we can cite: Chassieu, Collonges-au-Mont-d’Or, Corbas, Dardilly, Ecully, Neuville-sur-Saone, Sainte-Foy-les-Lyon, Saint-Genis-Laval, Tassin-la-Demi-Lune…

The east is more affected than the west
The vast majority of metropolitan municipalities have a particularly high incidence rate between 250 and 500, including: Source, Caluire-et-Bake, Décines-Charpieu, Francheville, Feyzin, Lyon, Meyzieu, Pierre-Bénite, Saint-Fons, Saint-Priest, Vaulx-en-Velin, Venissious, Villeurbanne…
A Grigny, the incidence rate explodes, it is over 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
On closer inspection, we see that it is the east of the metropolis that is the most affected by the Covid-19. A finding that is not all that surprising because studies show that the poorest municipalities (here more east of the metropolis) are the least vaccinated and therefore the most vulnerable to the virus.
