Many young in the stork colony

In March, the webcam of the Münsingen Psychiatric Center (PZM) showed the first egg in one of the stork’s nests. A number of chicks have now hatched.

“It’s good to see three young storks,” says a happy observer on the Facebook page “You’re welcome, if…” and posts photos of the nest on the awning in front of the PZM. And a reader points out that there are even more young.

In fact: “We can hardly believe it: 25 little storks (and there are more every day!) have hatched in the nests high above the PZM area in the last few weeks and are now being eagerly fed by their parents,” writes the PZM on Facebook . An unusual nest can also be seen in one of the pictures posted. The PZM: “One of the stork couples arrived late – and is currently converting one of our chimneys into a compact stork’s nest.”

Offspring soon in all four webcam nests?

A glance at the PZM webcams also reveals rich offspring. Young can be seen in three of the four nests, some of which are quite large. In house 42, where the first egg was sighted, there are four young in the nest, in houses 22 and 24 there are three each.

The nest in house 44 is also inhabited by a pair of storks. Will the laying of eggs still start? Last Friday around noon, one of the storks brought in a beakful of nesting material…
